I have a Book4, Snapdragon Elite X. Within the last 10 months or more, many Windows Updates fail to install. I have had reputable technicians login remotely. They have performed ‘tune ups’ and completed various other searches for challenges. About 7 months ago, they recommended a factory reset. I did that - what a pain to uninstall and reinstall programs! That lasted about a month. I chose to ignore the Windows Update messages. That was probably a mistake. I don’t remember exactly what the message was; regardless, I needed to accomplish a specific update so that another MS program would work better. I started the remote routine again. After 2 attempts, the tech suggested a factory reset. I decided to take it to the shop. Of course, when I got it back last week, I had to reinstall all of the software again. Two days later, I had 2 updates; one installed; the other didn’t. It is the 2026-06 Preview Update [KB5095093] Install error - 0x80070002. Yesterday, another update [Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus] also needed to be accomplished. It also failed. The new error message. “We’ll try to download this update once you’re connected to the internet.” Sadly, I was and still am connected to the Internet. I am beside myself. Please help.

I think that the error message is saying that "file(s) not found".
Sounds like some required system files are missing, or possibly the update cache is corrupted?
Did you try running the Windows Troubleshooter?
If a Factory Reset fixed the issue previously, then that might be the "fix"?
Obviously no one wants to be performing a Factory Reset, if the same issue reoccurs..
Did the shop find any hardware issues?
Hopefully you are keeping regular backups after your previous experiences?

The only other thing I could guess at is that something you're installing is affecting the update processes
