Hello, yesterday I setup my new Samsung washing machine and connected smartthings. While figuring out how it all worked I was able to customise some of the cycle settings in the app, i.e. temperature, rinses and spin speed. I'm not sure which cycles I was editing, whether built in ones or downloaded ones. However not long after that I lost the ability to do that, the 3 buttons in the app always greyed out. What am I doing wrong? I'm going round and round in circles but can't figure out what changed/what I'm doing wrong?

Any help appreciated

Kev

I just deleted and re-added the machine but it was still the same. However, I have now sorted the issue, all it took was powering it off for 5 minutes. Power back on and now those options are available 🙂. If I had an accessible power switch above the counter top this would have never been an issue, however the machine is plugged into a socket behind it with no separate power switch. Rather than drag the machine out I just turned the breaker off.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

@kevlarx: It is possible that you have lost connection to the washing machine, therefore I recommend running through the setup process steps once again to see if this helps. For guidance, please refer to the step-by-step guide in the link below.

      https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/home-appliances/how-to-control-the-washing-machine-with-smartthings/

If you're still having some trouble then please confirm the model number of your washing machine, and I will look into this further for you.

Thanks for the reply, I'm still connected though, I can send cycles to the washing machine from the app, I just can't customise any from the app ( I could initially)

@kevlarx: Thank you for clarifying. Please can you confirm the model number of the washing machine, located on the sticker on the inside of the door, and I will look into this further for you.

If possible, please attach a screenshot of your SmartThings app to highlight the issue you're facing, as this will be helpful as part of the troubleshooting process.

Thank you Andrew. The model is WW90CGC04DAEEU. Here are photos of the app showing the icons that are greyed out ( always! ) . An image with smart control on and smart control off. Plus photos of the display in both cases. It doesn't seem to matter what cycle I pick, built in or download, they're always greyed out. Again, at some point yesterday I could adjust those settings within the app.

@kevlarx: Thank you. If you toggle on 'Stay Connected' in the SmartThings app, as per the above screenshot, does this help at all?

Please note that your washing machine door must be closed in order to access the Smart Control options. You should also try pressing and holding the Smart Control button on the machine itself so the icon lights up, then use the 'Stay connected' option mentioned above to keep the app connected to your machine.

Toggling on stay connected doesn't make any difference.

Ok..about the smart controls. You mentioned pressing and holding the smart controls button, if I just tap it, an led behind the icon on the display lights, a door locked symbol Illuminates and the phone app says smart controls are on ( but those 3 buttons are still greyed out ). If I tap and hold the smart controls button on the machine it goes into AP mode, which I assume stands for access point, and the machine disconnects from my WiFi ( the app says it's offline ). Am I not supposed to have connected it to my WiFi? If I try and connect my phone to the access point which shows up it's asks for a password. It looks like I'm completely misunderstanding how's this works..

@kevlarx: Apologies for the confusion. If your washing machine is already connected to Wi-Fi, and you have connected to the SmartThings app using the Smart Control button, then no further action is required in that regard. I'm not too sure why the Temperature, Rinse and Spin options are greyed out in the app, although this may be a limitation of the cycle itself e.g. if you've selected Eco 40-60, then the temperature, rinse and spin options can't be adjusted in order to maintain the 'Eco' status.

I want you to be able to get the best out of the SmartThings features, therefore I recommend reaching out to our dedicated SmartThings Team by following the link below, and an advisor will be able to look into this for you.

      I hope this helps.

Hi. Have you tried deleting the machine and smart things app and starting from scratch again , as ive found in the past that helps if the machine or the app has got a glitch somehow. My new machine lost connection and no diagnostics would solve it,but removing the machine and app did the trick. Hope you get sorted 🤞
