How do I add and save a custom washing cycle?

I have just bought a new SmartThings washing machine and I'm disappointed to find there is no easy way to save changes to a cycle as a custom program, and when I switch it back on it reverts to a different (Eco) program. Am I missing something? My previous one at least kept its current settings when switched back on so this feels like a step backwards.
