Stuck on April security patch -S25 Plus

Hi All,
I purchased an S25 plus from ebay new condition which appears to be stuck on the April security patch update. I believe this is what's preventing the phone from updating to the new Android 17 One UI 9.0 software.
Things I have tried so far:
-Connecting to PC smartswitch to look for software update.
-installed sim card from another carrier (verizon) to check if it initiated a software update.
Google AI recommends I back up my phone and download install samsung model ending with "U1" firmware (presently this phone samsung model number doesn't end with U1). I have downloaded odin software and latest u1 firmware with Android 17 software onto my PC. Before I take this step is there an easier way to update?
Please advise.
