since you ran the diagnostics per @Mujibar its highly recommended to have a service center look at it first as any hardware issues will decrease the trade in value or cause your trade in to be rejected. You don't have to make a decision at the diagnostic center right away either and they can atleast tell you whats going on with your device. They will be able to adivse whether the repair is warranty as well however that will depend on when the device was purchased. Also trading in mid cycle depending on if you are doing a carrier trade in as well as trading directly to Samsung will decrease the trade in value. I can also highly suggest investing in the top tier Samsung theft care +loss. It absolutely pays for itself. I have had to use that for a screen replacement on my s25 ultra when I accidentally broke the screen. The policy is $15 a month plus tax. The full front and back screen replacement cost me $1 when I had to use it as accidental damage is covered 😎

Have you tried running diagnostics? Settings > device care > diagnostics. Or go to the Support tab of the Members app and tap "get started."

Diagnostics will indicate if there's a potential hardware issue. Consider taking the phone to a service center for further evaluation.

Do you have a screen protector on your device?

Have you tried, settings, apps, where it says your apps tap on the 3 line menu and toggle on show system apps. Type in the search box biometrics, open it, scroll to storage and clear cache. If that work, follow @Mujibar advice and perform the diagnostic test. If it fails you have to get it checked out at a service center.

Samsung talking about a $600 screen repair when all i requested was service on the finger print/ power button. Ridiculous!

I have the same issue. It just randomly stopped working today and then when I try to register my fingerprints, it says the sensor is not responsive and to restart my phone if it keeps happening. Restarted twice and still not working.

Good to know it isn't just me but its frustrating cause thats how I get onto my passwords, someone responded say how they told them it would be a 600 dollar sensor replacement and I seen someone post about it last year about the same problem and they said they still haven't fixed it

Mine began intermittently with the July update. Less frequent since the last one but still incredibly frustrating.
