I've noticed that on my note 9, that the camera freezes while taking pictures. It's worse while shooting videos with a lot of lagging.

I don't know if anyone one else have experienced this.

Hugely disappointed after experiencing this issue for the first time. My daughter's last dance team performance video absolutely ruined by freezing every 20 seconds for about 4 seconds at a time.

This is embarrassing, Samsung. Absolutely embarrassing. They need to fix that trash, or I'm going to lambast Samsung at every opportunity.

Probably a refurbished unit, and it's still not going to fix the issue. It's software, not hardware.

I have sent email to that email address. Honestly, I don't think they care. Samsung has continued to remain silent on the issue, despite all the discussions and attempts at emailing them directly. I have not received a single reply acknowledging that they've received my email. Most reputable companies at least reply saying that your message has been received.

Unfortunately I do not know more at this time, we are awaiting more information from our specialists. I cannot speculate on the release of future updates, I am sorry.

I have one more observation to make, well, several. I'm sure someone has already mentioned this somewhere. The camera freezes whenever I use one of several apps that need to scan a photo or barcode. For example, the CVS app when trying to scan prescriptions, the QR app by Tapmedia, the Kohl's app, the Amazon app, the Stocard app and the CA Lottery app, just to name a few. I mean really, Samsung has no idea that all of these apps have a problem with the camera freezing??? Just wow!!

@SamsungStephanie can you please clarify your comment. Are you saying that it is confirmed that there is an update coming out that specifically solves this problem?

Our specialists have given us the directive that an update is coming out to fix this issue specifically. However, due to us being unable to speculate on the release of future updates, I don't have an exact date for when to expect this.

I have the same issue, 512GB from Tmobile, always freezes up for about 5 seconds, just long enough to lose the moment, same with video.  It's done this since the day I got it and based on the forums 40 pages deep I know it's a major bug that many people have.  Not sure if Samsung has released a fix and tmobile just hasn't pushed it out but it really pisses me off.

After 24 hours my camera appears to still be functioning probably with no freezes I will continue to update for the next couple of days of things have been ironed out.

I haven't gotten an update on my ARH6 yet but I did a full wipe last night for a different issue.

This morning, the camera is freezing in Pro mode again with the exact same behavior as before.

      @SamsungStephanie@ @@@

So I can definitively confirm a full wipe and reset of the phone doesn't fix the problem. This is basically 100% a problem with the software.

Definitely keep us posted! Did you do a full wipe after the update? Or wipe cache partition? Or just standard ota update?

I hate to be the party-pooper, but unless you see "camera stability" addressed in any of these updates, a fix won't be in there.

Good points. I hadn't noticed the release date. And, the Samsung rep hasn't had the patch in place long enough to know whether it fixed the problem. We all know it didn't. And, so, the wait continues .

Just came from Best Buy. Spoke with the Samsung rep there who told me that he has the unlocked version of the phone and is using it on the T-Mobile network. His phone was freezing and stuttering when taking videos and seems to have been fixed with an update he received yesterday. I took a screenshot of the release notes, but couldn't embed it in this thread, so here is the URL to the notes:

That's the update I got and failed to fix the freezing. Freezing came back for me about 12 hrs after the update

@SamsungStephanie no updates since the 430mb ARJ5 update last week. When can we expect the two smaller updates?

Has there been anyone who's gotten those updates? Does it fix anything?

So after lot of frustrating procedures I still have the issue. So here is a history of what I did

      1. Problem first occured on October 6th 2018 and then on October 13th 2018. Following which I reached out to Samsung Expert via the App and they gave three options

          a. Do a cache clearing. Force Stop and restart the phone. It worked for a while but the problem came again

          b. Do a System partition cache clearing using the power down, volume down buttons and that too failed

          c. Do a factory Reset. Still this failed too

      2. On October 18th 2018 I called AT&T they said Im out of the 14 day return period and they cannot help me out. So called up Samsung and they asked me to ship the phone to Texas service Center. They sent the phone back saying they replaced the Motherboard and the camera and found the fault. Within two days of me receiving the phone the camera failed again. It started freezing in QHD, UHD and later even in FHD modes in Auto, Panaroma and Pro modes too.

      3. Finally on November 3rd 2018 I called up AT&T and they offered to send me a Like-New same model and configuration phone and I erceived on November 6th 2018. That phone failed again and camera was freezing as well.

      4. Now I called up samsung and they said they will connect with me and AT&T asked me to return the replacement phone. Now both of these are pending and Im run out of options.

      5. AT&T said they wont give me back my money and Samsung isnt responding as expected. Im sure this is a bug which Samsung has no solution yet. But Its painful to wait past 4 weeks and spending every weekend with AT&T or Samsung guys to fix my phone to end up with nothing. Pls help Samsung Im desperate now.

Sending the phone again for yet another fix. They wont do a replacement unless their technician decides so. God knows what is going to happen. If they dont fix this time They said there is one more repair request and after which they will deem the device as unfit and send a replacement. Dunno when I will get this resolved. Hopefully now or never.

They tell you specifically what will be done? In my mind it's pointless to send mine in if the software is not fixed. Because it's obvious this isn't a hardware issue. But if they actually have a specific fix then I'd definitely be interested

It could be a hardware issue, but if so the hardware design itself is defective, so repairs or replacements will not address the problem.
