Basically, I decided today was a perfect day for my experiment, so I drained my Note 9 battery to 1%; at 1%, I opened ADB on my PC and overrode the Note's dumpsys battery level to make it appear as 100%. Although the Note 9 was physically at 1%, I bypassed the battery system to make it look like it was at 100% and then started the test. At first, I thought the Note 9 would die in five minutes since it was at 1%, but I was wrong; the fake 100% battery percentage made the phone think it still had power, so it remained alive and working for 2 hours and 27 minutes until it started vibrating for no reason, after which it crashed and suffered a kernel panic.

To be honest, no harm was done after the crash; everything started working, and what impressed me the most was how long it actually lasted. 2 hours and 27 minutes is pretty long for a Note 9 that is at 1%.

Note: (No phones or devices was harmed during the experiment they are alive and working, ALSO I WOULDN'T ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO DO WHAT I DID)

It is probably due to the severe voltage drop when the CPU running under the Linux kernel had enough; it probably had a violent crash causing a kernel panic, and after the crash, the phone started charging again and the voltage became stable.

0% isn't actually 0%. Fully discharging a battery causes permanent damage to it so the phone shuts off while it is still safe

You might have removed the safety and gotten the phone to totally drain the battery... It probably kernel panicked because the battery was physically incapable of powering the entire phone anymore
