Why does Samsung do this?

I know this has come up before, but I'd like to add my voice as a long-time Samsung customer (and no doubt, long-term future customer).
I'm well invested in the brand: 65" Samsung OLED, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Tab, Fold 7, etc. So this isn't a complaint from someone looking to switch. It's feedback from someone who wants to stay. The Fold 3 to Fold 6 got something exactly right. They gave you one device that was a phone in your pocket and, with the S Pen, a proper notepad and markup tool when you opened it up.
The Fold 7, Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra have all dropped S Pen support. For people like me, that removed the main reason to buy a Fold. My use case: I'm a fire engineer, and much of my work involves reviewing and marking up architectural drawings. I don't want more devices or a bigger ecosystem. I want one device that does it all. Right now I switch between phone, tablet and laptop.
I understand the trade-off. Samsung removed the digitiser to slim the device down. But a stylus-capable Fold is a genuine productivity tool - its not a gimmick (if it was - tablets with pens wouldn't exist). Some of us would gladly accept a little extra thickness for it. Even a separate "Pro" or "Note" variant would do.
It's encouraging that Samsung has said it is exploring a return of the S Pen, so please count this as a vote for making it happen on the next release. I've been a diehard Note fan for years. The Note 9 was one of the best devices I've ever owned. Honestly, a 'Fold Note' would be a dream come true. For me it would be the greatest Samsung device ever made (with the possible exception of my 65" OLED, because that thing is just ridiculous).
To be clear, this isn't a rant or a dig. It comes from a huge Samsung supporter who wants to see the brand do what it does best: build the device nobody else dares to. I just wanted to put it out there. Samsung, if you're listening, I'll be first in the queue.

The problem with the digitiser isn't to slim the device its because no one makes on that can fold then the crease could cause issues, not to mention the softer screen surface would be more prone to indents.
