Bought the new Music Studio 5 speaker, advertised as Roon Ready but when added to Roon it is only Roon tested and not (yet) certified, so only plays via Airplay or Chromecast and not using the Roon Raat protocol.

Is a firmware update needed to make it Roon Ready ??

Ironic yes 😀 but after chatting with samsung NL the music studio 5 is now Roon Ready, how that is possible I dont know 🙄

Yes, but it is now showing as a Roon Ready endpoint, and it works perfectly !

Result - anyway how does it sound, i do love the aesthetics of that speaker, never new it had some higher res credentials, how many do you have 1 or more.

Only 1 for now, just for a small bedroom, maybe later a 2nd one. Bought this one for the nice specs and gives a really nice sound, not too much bass but I dont like too much bass.

You would need to check with Roon as devices are either TESTED or READY, the latter being good to go, and the former, as you say is not, but if you have evidence, product info or marking on the device, then the item has been mis-sold - best to reach out to Samsung Uk support and ask for a firm date if any firmware is due, if not ask for a refund.

Quick check its not on the Ready list - Samsung Roon Ready Devices - Compatible Audio Equipment

Well, I like this speaker and the concept and awaiting certification, so for now I have a spare Wiim mini and connect it tonight optical to the d.in of the speaker
