Hey!

Managed to get a good trade in deal for the S26 Ultra, so here we go...

However, for the device I'm trading in, it's running the One UI 8.5 Beta. Before sending it for trade-in (after my data is transferred), do I need to roll it back to the stable One UI 8? Or should I keep it on the 8.5 Beta?

Thanks!

You don't need to roll it back, it will be wiped again before it's resold anyway.

No need, you can just factory reset the phone as normal.

Not sure i agree with the previous comments. I woukd say it definitely depends on who you are trading in with. If you just factory reset phone it will still be on 8.5 beta. I would have thought most companies would want it on an official build. I think samsung might be okay with beta. If it was me I would be rolling back to official to make sure transaction goes smoothly. It's such an easy process to roll back you might as well

It's going directly back to Samsung, so I'm willing to leave it as is! I'm sure if it gets resold in the near future it would just update during setup, worst case scenario..

You can stay in the beta build. I traded my S23 ultra which had a beta build and samsung was fine with it. They even confirmed that the beta build will still be accepted for trade in

I can tell you from past years experience you do not need to do anything except reset your phone... These phones go back to Samsung for the certified refurbished as new and they probably install OS again... But to me they said no, just reset your phone

      Hello @Omura,

Just to be safe it may be best to contact the trade-in company directly, but Beta software shouldn't normally be an issue. Hope you enjoy your new S26 😊

      Have a good day! ☀️

I've upgraded every year for the last 3 years and always sent it back with the beta software with the phone reset to factory settings so definitely shouldn't be an issue.
