As a loyal Samsung ecosystem user of both phones and fitness bands who has owned the Galaxy Fit and Fit2, and even imported the Fit3 from foreign markets because it was not released stateside, I am writing to urge Samsung’s product planning and regional marketing teams to greenlight a true successor to the Galaxy Fit line.

There is currently a massive, unserved population of consumers who explicitly DO NOT want a smartwatch.

• The Reality of "Smartwatch Fatigue": My husband thought he wouldn't mind a smartwatch and bought a $450 Galaxy Watch. He never wore it. It was constantly dead on the charger or dismissed as "too bulky."

• The Fit3 Revelation: When Fitbit recently shut down services, I imported two Galaxy Fit3 devices from a foreign market—one for myself and one for him. Today, he asked me, "Is there a new one?" When I told him the only "new" option widely available in our market was the Galaxy Watch sitting on his dresser, he was horrified. He refuses to go back to the bulk and the terrible battery life.

• The Fitbit Opportunity: Google’s commandeering of the Fitbit line and phase-out of classic Fitbit hardware has left a massive vacuum in the market. A huge percentage of Fitbit users refuse to migrate to the bulky Google Pixel watches or Google Fitbit alternatives because they hate the Pixel's form factor and 24-hour battery life. Furthermore, the Fitbit interface has become bloated and no longer supports many of the features that were included when offered under legacy control.

• The Unmet Market Need:: Consumers are desperate for a slim, low-key, comfortable fitness band with a time display, long battery life, and basic, reliable health tracking functions. This is a category Samsung historically excelled at. By failing to widely distribute, support, and actively develop a dedicated fitness band line, Samsung is leaving an enormous pool of customers—and revenue—on the table.

Do not let AI data metrics convince you that everyone wants a heavy wrist-computer. We want to stay in the Samsung ecosystem, but we need the right hardware to do so.
