Latest firmware update (1100.4) completely broke the rear height channels for DTS:X content in adaptive mode. This problem doesn't exist in other sound modes.
There is a test file I usually use for setting up my rears. You can find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/11qqv95/surround_sound_test_files_in_almost_every_format/ "DTS-X 7.1.4.mkv" 50 MB
The problem is that the sound that should be coming from the rear height speakers is simply not there. You can verify this at the end of the video.
It is not just that there is also:
- The center channel is noticeably quieter than the left and right channels. You can hear it clearly at the beginning of the video.
- The top height channels are noticeably quieter than the other channels as well.
Audio assigned to the rear channels is also coming from the soundbar/front speakers, which should not be happening.
In short, adaptive mode is currently unusable for DTS:X content.
e.g. Jurassic World (2015) 4K Bluray DTS:X
"At around 38:35, there is a dinosaur growl and that sound can clearly be heard coming from the rear height speakers in 3 other modes. But in adaptive mode rears are muted.
It's not just me. I've already created a post on Reddit, and multiple users have confirmed the same issue there as well as on other forums.
For users who primarily use Adaptive mode, this issue has a noticeable impact on the overall listening experience. We hope Samsung acknowledges the problem and addresses it in a future firmware update.

Same issue here, there was a recent Firmware Update v.1102 which supposedly would fix this but after installing it via USB + doing a factory reset. The issue remains the same.
