It would be wonderful if Samsung would incorporate UWB and a speaker into their pro line earbud cases.

I recently misplaced my earbuds within my apartment, and due to the absence of UWB in the case, I was unable to locate them using the "Find My" feature. What should have been a quick search unfortunately took a considerable amount of time. It's noteworthy that Apple offers UWB and a speaker in their earbud cases at a similar price point of $249, which greatly assists in locating lost cases.

One might speculate that Samsung's decision not to include these two features in their earbud cases could be attributed to cost-saving measures, perhaps even suggesting a preference for customers to purchase replacements rather than easily find their existing ones. One has to wonder about the actual cost of adding a UWB chip and a speaker to the case; perhaps it's a mere $20 in manufacturing expenses, which could easily be passed on to the consumer. It does seem plausible that Samsung might prefer customers to replace lost earbuds rather than effortlessly retrieve them.

      Hi Robin621k 🙂
I thought the same thing until I found where it was tucked away. The native proximity gauge feature built in can be accessed via the SmartThings finder tool not Samsung find. In smartthings you'll choose your buds in the list of devices then tap scan nearby. Which will start scanning nearby. The buds are setup to send a ping every 2 minutes but once your phone receives that first ping and locks onto their signal, you'll automatically see the screen change to the gauge in my screenshots below. Also, unlike the Samsung find tool you can activate the audible chirp sound while your buds are in the case with the lid closed. The screenshot where I barely had any green in the gauge I was clear across the other side of my house 😆 and of course it fully illuminated green only when my s26u was directly over the case. As soon as I moved it slightly off center or to the side of the case the gauge wasn't fully green. Oh, and by over the top of them I was near touching them I sat them on the floor as a reference point to check responsiveness so with me being 5 ft 4 I kept it at chest level and the detection was very sensitive to movement but dead on accurate for being in the case with the lid closed. I'm surprised how much louder they made that chirp too. I ripped my entire house apart over a bud pro 3 barely giving a whimper outside the case 🤣 1787251264251.jpg1787251264259.jpg1787251264267.jpg1787251264274.jpg

OoOo that does make sense to hang them on your purse. My brain would have a meltdown letting mine jingle jangle like an ornament even in a protective case 😅 I'm a backpack girly and never really got it purses lol especially carrying my tech around like my elite book and tablet. My purse would have me struggling to heft it around all the time 😆
And thats wild that your buds case protector is causing complete RF attenuation on a 2.4 GHz signal. Most standard TPU or polycarbonate protective sleeves shouldn't cause that issue. Your import must be lined with Faraday mesh or carbon shield 🫠 you got your hands on the doom's day wizard special and I'm genuinely intrigued for science purposes.
Would you mind dropping a screenshot of the error its throwing when you try to ping your buds via smartthings find? The previous screenshot just showed the initial search loop waiting for the beacon cycle.

That's all I see. Not taking the case off, too complicated with the stickers, to test them.

Lol no worries, I wouldn't ask you to do all that just to tinker. But in hindsight this is a perfect opportunity to further accessorize, especially since your buds are nice and cozy in their new home which just happens to be a mini replica of the federal reserve vault lol! A matching tether leash of some sort might be a good idea. Seeing as your device finder tools are rendered 100% useless. However, if that case can make up for that trade off of feature loss and withstand being thrown off the empire state building, sustain zero damage or some other insane miracle then I suppose sacrificing proximity tracking is a fair trade 😅

I'm switching to the apple ecosystem if my galaxy buds 2 pro break before Samsung releases earbuds w/ UWB.
