Hi everyone,

I’ve been having an issue with my Samsung printer lately. When I print documents, I notice thin lines appearing on the paper, especially in areas with text and images. Some prints look fine, but others have visible lines that make the pages look messy.

I’m not sure if the problem is caused by toner, the printer settings , or something else. Before replacing any parts, I want to check the print quality properly.

Would printing a printer test page help me identify whether the lines are related to print quality or the printer itself? I’d also appreciate any suggestions for checking the toner and cleaning the printer safely.

Has anyone experienced this issue with a Samsung printer? What worked for you?

Thanks in advance!

As old as that printer is, my bet would be the print head is failing - or dirty. Have you run a cleaning cycle?  Printers do usually have a print quality page and an alignment adjustment.  Usually found in the driver software.

It has been almost 9 years since Samsung sold their printer business to HP. You would need to contact HP for support.

Agreed with the replies above. A print test page will definitely help narrow it down. If the lines show up on the test page too, it’s 100% a physical hardware issue (dirty rollers or failing drum) and not your computer's settings.

Yes, printing a test page is a good first step. It can help you see whether the lines also appear on the printer’s own output, rather than only in a specific document.

I’d also check the toner level and remove the toner cartridge to inspect it for leaks or damage. If you remove it, follow the printer’s manual and avoid touching the drum or exposing it to bright light. You can also try printing a few pages after gently rocking the cartridge side to side, if the manual allows it. If the lines remain, the cause could be the toner cartridge, drum, or another part of the printer.

Do the lines run vertically or horizontally, and are they black, gray, or colored? That can help narrow down the cause.
