Volume button always controls media instead of ringtone. I have gone over all volume/sound settings multiple times and cannot figure out why. Have never set it this way it just started doing it .

Try activating the volume controls, tap the 3 dots, and manually change ringtone volume. See if the buttons change ringtone after that.

Thank you for your feedback.
Have you turned off the "use Volume buttons for media" under Volume Settings? (Volume > "Use Volume buttons for media")?
If you turn on, then your volume buttons will control for media and ringtone if you turn it off.
However, if the issue persists, please don't hesitate to submit an error report to us.
