- 1. Adaptive Ambient Dark Mode
Introduce a third mode option: "Adaptive", alongside the existing "Light," "Dark," and scheduled modes.
Functionality:
Utilize the device's ambient light sensor (and optionally the front-facing camera for contextual awareness) to dynamically switch between Light and Dark modes in real time.
Rationale:
Current time-based automation (e.g., Sunset to Sunrise) does not account for indoor lighting conditions. Users in dim environments during the day still experience overly bright Ul elements.
Expected Outcome:
Improved visual comfort, reduced eye strain, and a morr, text-aware Ul that adapts instantly user's environment.
- 2. Enhanced Lock Screen Notification Management
The lock screen notification system can be made significantly more efficient and information-dense.
Automatic Expansion on Unlock:
After successful Face Unlock, automatically expand the notification stack to display at least five notifications, reducing the need for additional gestures.
Seamless Scrolling:
Allow direct vertical scrolling through notifications on the lock screen without requiring a secondary swipe to expand the notification shade.
Optional Smart Prioritization:
Use on-device intelligence to highlight high-priority notifications (messages, calls, OTPs) at the top.
Expected Outcome:
Faster access to critical information and reduced interaction friction.
- 3. Native Integration of One Hand Operation+
Integrate core features of Good Lock's One Hand Operation+ directly into Settings → Display → Navigation Gestures.
• Key Additions:
• Support for Diagonal Up / Diagonal Down gestures
• Custom mapping (e.g., Recents, Notifications, Back, App Switcher, Split Screen)
Rationale:
These gestures are already widely used by power users but remain hidden behind Good Lock, limiting discoverability.
Expected Outcome:
Improved one-handed usability, especially on larger devices, and a more powerful default gesture system.
- 4. Unified Good Lock Ecosystem
Many advanced customization features are currently fragmented within the Good Lock ecosystem.
Proposal: Integrate the most widely used features from:
• Home Up (home screen layout control)
• LockStar (lock screen customization)
• QuickStar (status bar and quick panel tweaks)
directly into the core Settings app.
Optional Approach:
Keep Good Lock for experimental features, but migrate stable, high-usage features into native One Ul.
Rationale:
Most users are unaware of Good Lock, leading to underutilization of Samsung's strongest differentiation features.
Expected Outcome:
A richer out-of-the-box experience and reduced dependency on external modules.
