Has anyone else had problem with charging the Tab S8 Ultra after a recent software update?

After a software update my Tab S8 Ultra won't charge properly. It will fast charge (green progress bar) e but won't super fast charge (blue progress bar). I can only charge it when the USB C is plugged in one way but not upside down, it isn't reversible anymore. And when powered on it doesn't charge properly at all. When powered on it goes up and down by 1%. I suppose this depends on power usage at the time.

Try to do a Force reboot (volume down and power button).

Clean gently the charging port. How old is the device. It might be wear and tear

Bit older being a s8 maybe 2020 2021. Funny coincidence that it is after a sw update though.

It sounds like your cables connectors might be damaged if turning the cable upside down results in different charging. I've noticed no change with my Tab S8 Ultra with the latest update (or any update) in regard to charging, all chargers I use, Samsung official 45W and third party chargers 45W+ all operate the same as usual.

Really? Is it just the phones ditching them then?

Yes, no SD Card slot since the S20 series, but all the Galaxy Tabs still have SD Card slots. My Tab S11 Ultra supports 2TB Cards.

I've skimmed the specs recently I didn't notice a card slot in them. I guess it is just the phones ditching them which imo is a bad idea. I quite often have some movies saved on the card in my S8, as well as many FLAC files from Bandcamp and various "other sources." 😆 It's also useful for backing up and moving large files from computer to computer or device to device.

On another note this issue with the USB C is really strange. USB C to A OTG adapters won't work at all. I say at all but the only thing plugged into it at the minute is a USB 2 card reader I use for recovering data from old Smartmedia cards. It also has an SD reader though with a working card inside so I know that's fine. I will try directly with a USB C stick. I know those are USB 3.0 too because they work at those speeds with my laptop. Some devices advertised as working with USB C smartphones are USB 2 speeds only.

I tried plugging it into my computer, and strangely enough it didn't detect it as a device for transferring files automatically, not sure that's usually what happens. I never noticed before.

Even stranger though is that it seems to think my Laptop is a charging connected device, that means it is trying to charge my ASUS high performance laptop, which comes with a 200w AC adapter BTW 😂

Maybe it is because I connected it to the power delivery input socket of the laptop this time. But the laptop definitely tells me it is using power delivery as well as the AC adapter when I plug my Tab in that socket, so it's definitely trying to charge it.

I'm not sure but I think I can connect the laptop end of the USB C either orientation, but I am sure that if I connect the Tab end to the USB C one way it won't work at all, and all the options in the USB settings menu start flashing. By that I mean they keep changing between being greyed out and available to change within a fraction of a second.
