Im sure most of us are caught up with the current hardware crisis going on.
Many tech companies are raising their prices because of the hardware shortage (especially RAM).
With that being said would you rather Samsung keeps trying to upgrade their hardware with the risk of prices on their newer models being raised through the roof?
OR would you want them to explore more with software as opposed to exploring new hardware that they can use on their devices?
Im personally leaning more towards software because even though a new physical component on our devices are cool. Software is technically endless while hardware isn't 🤷🏾♂️
What do you think?
Examples of Hardware: Cameras, Charging, Chipset etc.
Examples of Software: One UI features, Galaxy AI, Customisation etc.

Well relating to mobiles specifically, focus on software, and go back to what works hardware wise, memory card slots, headphone jack etc, I don't think they need to keep releasing a new model every year, every 2 years is fine, I had an s24ultra, traded in for a flip, got rid of the flip, got an S25ultra and traded it in for an S26Ultra in June, and have just bought an s24ultra because I realised after after having had both previous, I like this phone more and I still have 4/5 years of use, the hardware is important but there's no point releasing a phone every year when the market is already saturated, create the demand and give people something worth waiting for biennially

Couldn't have said it any better 👏 it honestly seems like going back to the basics is what the right move could be right now.
And a new phone every 2 years is also looking like a reality we have to face soon and one that we need because if im being honest even before the ram crisis smartphones have gotten stale over the years. Not saying they did bad with them but theres room for improvement

Its all about the money.
Hardware you can sell new devices all thr time as some people will buy every year others wont, but it gives the company constant income.
If you go heavy on software to make money there would be one of two options, either subscription based software features and improvements or having to pay for every software improvement.
The better hope with the changes in the US meaning restrictions on AI spending are likely that the AI firms will lose the ability to massively overpay and buy out all the stock meaning hardware firms will start targeting consumers again.

The problem is there isn't a lot that can be done as these firms have a certain amount of production and the factories are made for a specific task, so if they stop thd hardware they are suddenly paying for factories running at a fraction of their capabilities.
All the tech firms have this issue and it's why the big 3 memory makers have resisted mass expansion as if the AI sales dry up they would then have to offload all the unnecessary production they have.
So unfortunately these firms are locked in and the only way past is through.

Truee. The factories seem to have their hands tied right now. It really does suck too 😭 who knows when its going to end. And when it does end how long until prices drop?!
I was thinking it could've been an alternative to satisfy customer needs while this whole ram thing is going on 🤷🏾♂️ but I could also be doing some wishful thinking 💔

The problem is AI are a customer as well, but for every 1 unit of AI RAM made it takes the production of 3 units of DRAM, but the AI firms are loosing/spending 100s of billion a year making massive losses so in trying to get the biggest servers and priorities they are going to certain constrained manufacturing like the memory market and offering massively more than the consumer market so the companies are forced to go to the higher bidder due to needing to hit profit targets.
Its why us as the end user are paying more as the unregulated and unrestricted debt and spending of the AI has forced prices up.
Its like AMD has now claimed their main target market is AI and the consumer market for them will fall massively and all but disappear upsetting a lot of end users.

Samsung is only 1 of 3 companies who make ram, they treat individual departments separately to stop claims of monopoly, so they could only treat the mobile side the same way they treat everyone else, or the other tech makers would sue for exploiting the market and considering the fruit phones are a big buyer of Samsung memory its a tricky situation.

Yeah i know dw 😂 its just funny to think of it like this.
But its a cool fun fact for those who didn't know!!

You need powerful hardware to support powerful software.

Wish I could say the same one ui 9 is terrible on the a56, every time I open a app the ram go's up 5gig even just listening to music, with weird earphones, I've had to stop using Bluetooth, and I've disallowed all apps to connect with the nearby device because that was an issue with battery draining.

With all the apps starting up and running all the time, the phone still stays fine on performance

1st. I really like your system font
2nd. Thats really weird that you phone us using more ram?! Tbf one ui 9 hasn't been perfect for me either. I have a recent post talking about how it basically broke my camera app.
Hopefully Samsung fixes the bugs with the update in a security update or something 🙏
