I recently called a taxi from a company I only used twice before and have never given personal info 2 when they answerd they risponded by using my first name that they have never been given ? How is this possible without some degree of scullduggery ?

The first time you called them did you not give ,address and name then personal info store's on there system, just like pizza shops
The taxi company in my area is automated, and starts by saying hello wayne where are you going and asks if you want the last address, where you want to be picked up from and so on

@Disapoint: As pointed out by @lance78, it is possible that the taxi company kept your details on file (linked to your phone number) and these details are made visible to the operator when you call.

If you're concerned, open the Phone app > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Supplementary services > Show caller ID > Select 'Network default', as this should only display your number to recipients who do not have you in their contacts list.

I gave surname and pickup & drop off points and nothing else phone aop has always been set network default I See no legit way they got first name and its not told in voice mail message either

The number is put in their system if you're a constant user, just so you don't always have to keep giving details, my local pizza 🍕 and Indian do it as well. Your info is not being exposed at all

@Disapoint: While I appreciate that you feel you have only provided your surname to the company, the likelihood is that you have given them your first name at some point. It's also possible that the taxi company own other local businesses (such as a local takeaway) and they have a shared customer database.

I strongly urge you to contact the company directly, as you have a right to know how your data is being processed/accessed.

The cab company is in my contacts google messages has permissions to my contacts they got it from google! Dont ask me how thats what I was told when I asked
