Hi @Johnny_L_Clarke420 Welcome to the samsung community :)
With the age of the Device there is likely to be degradation, has the Battery ever been replaced. Whilst the case could make it worse not the primary reason. However the S21 is now out of all support, the last security patch was in January and vulnerabilities increase.
However in meantime Ensure all apps are up to date, optimise in Device Care and run the Galaxy Apps Booster from the Good Guardians suite.
multitasking, use power intensive apps will tend to cause overheating , the heat is only really excessive if the Battery exceeds 43 degrees. However you may need to give it time to cool down.
Sometimes resetting the Battery stats helps Ensure Auto Blocker is switched off and in the Samsung phone App dial *#9900# and scroll down to Battery stats Reset, tap on that and then restart Device. You may wish to turn Auto Blocker back on afterwards, credit to @lminvti @Moiramon who have also mentioned this in the past.
However you may well need to consider another Devicer at some point.
