Currently in One UI, swiping down from the top edge (or anywhere on the screen, depending on layout) always pulls down the Quick panel on the lock screen. While the existing Lock network and security option prevents toggling critical settings like Wi-Fi and mobile data without a PIN, the drop-down menu itself cannot be fully disabled.

Current Pain Points:

  • Unintended changes: Anyone handling the locked phone (or children playing with it) can still toggle the flashlight, mute system sounds, change screen brightness, or disrupt media playback.

  • Pocket touches: Accidental swipes in pockets frequently expand the panel, max out brightness, or turn on the flashlight, leading to battery drain.

  • Privacy: Even when notification contents are hidden, the presence of the full Quick panel and media players remains exposed without biometric or passcode authentication.

  • Feature parity: Competing operating systems provide explicit controls to disable both Control Center and Notification Center while locked.

Proposed Solution:

Introduce a native toggle under Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Secure lock settings [or within Quick panel layout]:

  • Label: "Allow Quick settings when locked" or "Disable swipe-down on lock screen"

  • Functionality: When disabled, vertical swipe-down gestures on the lock screen are ignored until the device is unlocked via fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN/password.

Target Impact:

Gives Galaxy users complete control over their device's physical security, eliminates accidental pocket touches, and closes a persistent privacy gap.
