After installing One UI 8.5/Android 16 on my Galaxy A55 5G (SM-A556E) on 22 July 2026, I experienced multiple serious issues. Audio works briefly after reboot, then becomes muted. Samsung Members diagnostics for Mic, Call and Audio say they are being used by another app/process, even when no app is running. Bluetooth audio causes the phone to reboot within seconds when playing a local video, even with Airplane Mode ON and Wi-Fi OFF. The phone also rebooted while playing a local video in Safe Mode. With Bluetooth/Wi-Fi off, local video eventually stops and the phone lags/freezes, and volume sometimes increases by itself. SIM Manager cannot be accessed and shows "Couldn't connect with SIM Manager. Please try again later." This also happened while ashore with cellular coverage, and I could not access my eSIM. Wi-Fi is unstable and battery drains much faster than before. All issues started immediately after the update. Please help if anyone experienced also this kind of issue.

Troubleshooting steps suggested in community forums for similar post-update issues include clearing the system cache and checking for further stabilization patches. [1]
If the device is on a beta build, reporting these issues directly to Samsung through the Members app is recommended to ensure they are addressed in the final stable release. [1, 2]

What is Happening Under the Hood The Audio & Media Crashes: The Android processes responsible for handling sound (audioserver and mediaserver) are crashing and hanging. When the phone says the mic is "being used by another app," it means the system server itself has locked up the hardware and cannot release it. Playing a video forces the system to call these broken servers, resulting in a kernel panic and an instant reboot. The SIM Manager & Wi-Fi Drops: The phone's baseband modem — the chip responsible for all cellular and Wi-Fi communication — is failing to handshake with the OS. This is why the SIM manager is completely inaccessible and your eSIM is offline. The Battery Drain: Your processor is maxed out because it is caught in an endless background loop, constantly trying (and failing) to restart these crashed system services.
This leaves two possible culprits: a deeply corrupted firmware installation where the One UI 8.5 partitions didn't write correctly, or a physical hardware failure on the motherboard (often the baseband or audio IC) triggered by the intense heat generated during the prolonged update process.
To isolate whether this is software or hardware, step through these fixes. Order is critical here.

• Clear the cache partition
• Reset all settings (not data)
• Check for any new patches or hotfixes
• Run Samsung Members → Error reports so Samsung can log it
• If nothing improves, a full backup + factory reset might be the only stable fix until Samsung releases a patch

Hi @ryan1690, we have a handy online guide that you can follow in order to send an Error report:

Same is happening on my husband's zfold7. He starts a video with sound, but if he pauses and resumes it, no sound anymore. We did a factory reset on it and it worked fine for about 2 weeks. Not sure if something updated again thay caused the same issue again. He's switched back to an older phone for now.

Apart from those things you have mentioned already, it also happens to me that clock starts delaying, and it increases as time goes. If I restart the phone, it will be okay for some time, then it will start being late for 1,2, 5, 7, 10 etc. minutes.
Really annoying.

If the phone is getting the latest stable OS (8.5), then it’s getting the security/bug updates on a schedule: either monthly or quarterly. Hopefully, they will fix your problem too.

After updating my Samsung S23 to One UI 8.5, my Samsung Account keeps signing me out automatically and will not stay signed in.
I also do not have OneDrive installed on my device. No matter how many times I sign back into my Samsung Account, it eventually signs me out again.
I have already cleared the Samsung Account app cache and reinstalled the latest version of the Samsung Account app, but the issue still persists.
Could you please assist me with resolving this issue?
