I am writing to express my strong disappointment regarding the recent removal of custom font customisation on our devices. We are now restricted to a monopoly of the default Samsung font and the limited "monofont" selection available on the Galaxy Store.
This change is incredibly anti-consumer and directly hurts device usability. For many of us, being able to change the system font is not just about aesthetics, it is a crucial accessibility requirement. Restricting this feature makes daily phone usage incredibly difficult and unenjoyable for users who rely on specific typography for readability.
What is most frustrating is that instead of supporting user choice, Samsung seems actively opposed to it by constantly patching the community workarounds we are forced to find just to make our devices readable.
As a loyal user, I want clarity on how Samsung plans to rectify this. Will we see the return of genuine custom font support, or at least a drastically expanded, open library for third-party fonts? Our phones are major investments, and we should have the basic freedom to configure them for our visual and accessibility needs.

I used to use custom fonts with third-party software, and nope, my device isn't rooted.
I've checked out the fonts in the Galaxy Store, and they're pricey AND super limited.
Why is Samsung slowly turning into an iPhone? 🤦🏻

Samsung is becoming trashier with each update. Like MicroSlop, adding stuff you didnt want, request or need and removing the stuff you actually liked and used.

Samsung could create a module in Good Lock that would allow customizing fonts, just like everything else. Since it was done for security, the app would verify first, and then we could install it. Just as it's possible to create our own icons, not being restricted to those in the Galaxy Store/Themes (both free and paid), we could also create our own fonts or transfer them from elsewhere, not being limited to those in the Galaxy Store.

But at the point, you're absolutely right to start looking at other brands.

I completely agree with you.👍👍👍
Samsung keeps using “security” as a reason to limit customization more and more with every update.
If security is really the only concern, then why not add a dedicated Good Lock module that allows users to install their own TTF fonts safely? That way, users could simply download and install the fonts they want without relying on workarounds or third-party tools.
Decisions like this are honestly making me reconsider buying another Samsung device in the future. Customization has always been one of Android's biggest strengths, and it's disappointing to see those options gradually being taken away.

You're right. Plus we buy the phone right out from Samsung website or through the carrier that is expensive. So we can't even use our own custom font??? Samsung, you be careful. We don't want to boycott your products.

You're right, it's time to switch to a different Android phone; Samsung doesn't even bother with a larger battery, even in a phone costing £1,800. I’ve owned successive versions of the Galaxy Z Fold for years; when I spent the money, I hoped I’d always be able to customize my device, that’s what Android was created fof, but Samsung is imposing restrictions and has announced even more limitations on customization. Soon, we’ll probably need special permission just to change icons or the wallpaper 😞

The US is so corrupt and so full of lobbying that they won't allow Chinese phone manufacturers to sell their phones here. If we allow brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Huawei to sell here... My God.. Samsung would so fall in line with what users want. Now they know that they have no competition and they can continue to do as they please... What are you gonna do? Buy an iPhone?

Agreed with you. I'm a huge fan of Samsung since S5 to S25 ultra. Now Samsung block the custom font. I think this is the end for me and family. We have 5 members in the family. Time to choose other Android phones.

I agree with you very much Just now, I had a problem with the Samsung Sense font, which was actually an iPhone font I did something I didn't want to do and how stupid could I be that I did it to test if I can fix it? Samsung is a mobile phone that I have had since I was a child and I have been loyal to it But unfortunately, Samsung makes us sad To the extent that I hit my head

I fully agree with this. It really feels like Samsung is pushing loyal customers away. Custom fonts have been one of the key reasons many of us stick with Samsung. If this freedom is taken away in future updates, there’s honestly little reason left to stay with the brand.

I completely agree with your post. It is rather disappointing that the font cannot be change.
My family, consisting of five members, will likely need to explore alternative brands because of this restriction.
Hopefully you'll realize this isn't supposed to be listed in the upcoming One UI 9.0.
