Likely to be a lab setting, but apps like Google Gboard and Google maps and google messages whilst scrolling media runs at a capped 60Hrz.

 The purpose is not battery conservation, as a 120Hz refresh rate would only be active during interaction; otherwise, it would revert to its default setting, whether that is 60Hz or 1fps.

For instance, when accessing your photo gallery within Google Messages to compose a message, the scrolling experience is unsatisfactory. However, upon disabling the camera feed, the performance becomes exceptionally fluid.

Excluding Gboard, the performance of the other two applications remains consistent on Pixel devices; however, Samsung should explore methods to optimize these applications for 120Hz refresh rates as it can be achieved using terminal commands

      @JimWillFixIt,

      Thanks for sharing your feedback! 👍 The behavior you described appears to be related to app-specific refresh rate handling, so I’ll forward your suggestion about improving 120Hz optimization to the Development Team for review.

      If you feel any of these apps behave abnormally beyond expected limitations, please also report it through the Samsung Members app with log files so the team can check for potential issues :hand-with-index-and-middle-fingers-crossed:.
