"I have been closely monitoring the situation regarding the Linux terminal on the S24 Ultra, and the same issue is occurring on the S25. I believe it may also persist with the upcoming S26. In UI 8.0, it was possible to enable the Linux terminal through the developer options. At that time, the terminal could be activated and would even start, but it produced an error indicating that the virtual machine was not protected. I had hoped this would be corrected with a kernel update and expected it to function properly in UI 8.5 Beta.

However, I observed that in Beta 1 it did not work, in Beta 2 it did not work, in Beta 3 it still did not work, and now in Beta 4 the option has been completely removed. It is no longer possible to find any reference to it.

It is unfortunate, as I still had hope of running VS Code, using Linux in DeX mode, and truly having Linux at my fingertips. It seems that Samsung is an extremely lazy company. This is what happens when a company shifts from making phones to building war tanks. If one wants a good Android experience, it is better to use a Google Pixel.

Can I now announce to the world that Samsung has removed one of the most anticipated features of Android?LINUX TERMINALLINUX TERMINALREMOVED LINUX TERMINALREMOVED LINUX TERMINAL

      Hello.

You should post this in the beta forums.

Also remember that you would possibly be in the minority for such options and Samsung has been removing options which it has found there are less users for.

I would just put it down due to security reasons.

Quite geeky stuff and seem more related to pc's.

This community is more for the average consumers.

You would probably have more success in forums like you posted or xda forums where they are more tech knowledgeable in this things.

Send as feedback as suggested. More chance an actual Samsung dev might reply

It never hurts to be more feature rich it covers a wider range of users and there is nothing wrong with introducing more advanced features to general users to work as a PC as it may work well for them. It does for me traveling. Phones are the primary 'computer' to most people now so the advancement makes sense.

There is a more responsible reason for this. The linux option in dev settings doesn't work on samsung devices. It's been a while so I can't remember all the details, but basically the processors samsung use don't include a feature that the linux option requires. So it cannot work. It was probably removed from dev settings for that reason, it doesn't work

Correct. It's something I'd love to see from a capability standpoint as I would expect to see any Exynos chips fully support this going forwards with how powerful DEX could be reviving the dead Linux on DEX project natively.

There are options though like Termux when it works or the much less efficient virtualised environments like NoMoneDesktop ect.

It'd not just exynos not supporting it. It doesn't work on my snapdragon 8 elite phone either. (When the setting did exist I tried it, not supported)

Would happily buy a Samsung if it had the Linux Terminal. Will stick with Pixel for the moment though, unfortunately the Tensor chips are very low performant, but at least they can run the Linux.

No. It works fine on my new Samsung Tab S11, incl. KDE Plasma Desktop.
