Header - Did you know?
Did you know that with One UI 8.5, your Galaxy can transform the chaos of notifications into a smart, tidy summary? You wake up in the morning or step out of a long meeting to find dozens of messages piling up in your group chats. Instead of wasting time scrolling endlessly to figure out what’s happened, you can now let Galaxy AI do the work for you thanks to the new Notification highlights menu.
This amazing feature processes data entirely on your smartphone (On-Device), ensuring maximum privacy, and is divided into two powerful tools:
Prioritise notifications: Artificial intelligence learns to recognise the most relevant messages and places them at the top of the list. This way, an urgent message will never be buried under dozens of less important notifications.
Summarise notifications: The real magic for chats. By analysing your notification history from the last 24 hours, the AI generates a short, concise text that summarises the entire conversation. At a glance, you’ll immediately know the gist of the conversation!
A quick tip: The AI needs power to work. If your battery is running low or you’ve enabled Power Saving mode, summaries will be paused to extend your phone’s battery life.
How to enable and customise the experience:
The great thing about this feature is that you can decide exactly how and where you want it to work. Here are the steps to set it up just right:
Phase 1 – Turn on Galaxy AI
Step 1. Open your phone’s Settings.

Step 2. Select Galaxy AI.

Phase 2 – Advanced customisation for individual apps (e.g. Messages)
As this feature is enabled by default for all messaging apps, you can choose to customise or disable it for specific apps:
Step 1. Go to Settings.
App drawer with highlighted Settings.
Step 2. Select Notifications.
Settings menu with highlighted Notifications option.
Step 3. Tap App notifications.

Step 4. Find the app you want to customise (e.g. Google Messages).

Step 5. Toggle the corresponding switches on or off to create a personalised experience, app by app!

Note: The Summarise notifications feature is only available on messaging apps; other apps only use the Prioritise notifications feature.
This way, you’ll have a smart, uncluttered notification centre that’s perfectly tailored to your lifestyle.
Have you already experienced the convenience of reading a summary instead of 50 separate messages? Which apps have you chosen to let the AI manage? Share your experience in the comments!
