If your Samsung phone keeps ringing unexpectedly, it’s worth checking your notification settings and whether any app is triggering the sound. You could also try restarting the phone and checking for pending software updates. If it happens only with calls or a particular app, that detail would help narrow down the cause.

Apologies for the inconvenience—this “phantom ringing” behavior can sometimes occur after a major system update (such as One UI 9.0) due to a background system process or a corrupted notification loop triggering on a schedule (often hourly), while the on-screen alert fails to display.

Recommended Troubleshooting Steps (One UI 9.0)
      1) Review Notification History (Identify the Trigger)
Before changing settings, confirm which app/process is generating the sound.
      • Go to Settings > Notifications
      • Select Advanced settings
      • Open Notification history (enable it if it’s off)
      • Check the log at the exact time the ringing occurred to identify the responsible app
      2) Disable Repeat/Reminder Notification Alerts

If an app has an unread notification, One UI may repeat alert sounds periodically.

      • Go to Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings
      • Turn Repeat notification alerts OFF
(On some builds this may be located under Accessibility > Advanced settings > Notification reminders.)
      3) Clear the System Cache Partition (Safe—No Personal Data Removed)

Major updates can leave stale cache data that causes loops or glitches. Clearing the cache partition does not erase personal data.

      • Power off the device
      • Connect it to a computer via USB-C (required on many newer Samsung models for Recovery Mode)
      • Hold Volume Up + Power until the Samsung logo appears
      • In Recovery Mode, select Wipe cache partition > Yes
      • Select Reboot system now

      4) Check for Dialer App Conflicts (Samsung Phone vs. Google Phone)

Post-update, default phone app handling can become inconsistent.

      • Go to Settings > Apps > Choose default apps > Phone app
      • Temporarily switch between Samsung Phone and Google Phone
      • Restart the device, then switch back if desired
Next step to narrow it down

If the hourly ringing continues, please share what appears in Notification History at the exact hour mark (if anything). That will help pinpoint whether the source is a specific app, a system component, or a dialer/telephony conflict—and we can provide a targeted fix.
