Notification settings

hi,
anyone know how to stop preview of notifications when using the phone, every time I get a WhatsApp message or any other message and preview comes up at the top of the screen I tried to adjust the settings but it's not allowing me to stop the preview when o try to stop it the notification come through silent.

Go to notification setting and click advanced then select applications which you want to take action then select show content or hidden contentthank you

That's surly not what he meant, in previous version of Android u can just block pop up or preview notification without turning those notifications to silent mode.
But in the new update we can't seem to find that option.
Samsung please we need an update for that issue so we can control out notifications more.
Enabling the UI system tuner will be the solution
