I am a 23-year-old unemployed foreign medical student studying in Davao City, Philippines. I purchased a brand-new Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, 256GB base model, from a Samsung retail store in 2023.

Following accidental display damage in 2026, I paid ₱16,800 for a display replacement at Samsung Service Centre–Banana Telecommunication, located at Insperia Condominium, Barangay 20-B, Bajada, Davao City. The device was already outside its original warranty.

Upon collecting the repaired tablet, I noticed that the lower edge of the display was slightly raised. I initially assumed this was a minor adhesive issue that would settle with time or after fitting a protective cover or screen protector.

While the replacement display was still under its repair warranty, I experienced brief episodes of flickering and visual distortion lasting approximately 10–15 seconds. Believing these were temporary software glitches, I did not record them. The problem continued after the repair warranty expired and became more frequent and prolonged in September 2026, when I obtained video evidence. By October, the display had become unusable.

When I returned to the service centre, staff initially told me that the display had no issue and suggested a software problem. They requested a factory reset despite the videos I provided and my demonstration that gentle pressure on the screen temporarily restored normal operation. I complied with the reset, resulting in the loss of most of my data accumulated since 2023, as I had only a limited backup.

After the tablet had been with the service centre for more than 24 hours, I was advised to replace the entire display again for ₱16,750. However, I received no written diagnostic findings or clear explanation identifying the fault. I was shown only photographs taken after the device was opened, which did not establish the cause of the problem. I was also not informed whether the display connections had been checked or reseated.

Upon receiving the tablet, I again applied gentle pressure to the screen, and it immediately resumed normal operation. Staff could not explain why this occurred. Although this does not confirm the underlying fault, it raises concerns about the replacement display, its installation, or its connections.

As a student who has already paid a substantial repair fee, I am disappointed by the recurring problem, the loss of my data, and the lack of a clear technical explanation. I am requesting a thorough review of the previous repair, written diagnostic findings, and a fair resolution before being asked to pay for another full display replacement.

Sincerely,
SAM
