Usually Samsung provides at least 3 years of operating system support. When it comes to security updates Samsung, based on my experience would provide security patches even to an old phone. I have s7 edge and still receives security updates

Depende din po sa mismong manufacturer ng device kung gaano po katagal ang pagsuporta ng OS nito sa kanilang product line. Gaya po nang nabanggit ng kapwa member niyo dito. Maaaring umabot ng tatlong taon ang suporta sa OS, at ito'y maaari rin po na dumepende sa developer ng OS kung ano anong mga device ang compatible pa para sa update na kanilang irerelease, dahil hindi po lahat ng device ay pare pareho nang features kahit na pareho kayo ng update version.

Yes, absolutely. Samsung operating system update is different from the security patch. Usually security updates are incremental. I suggest you check out Samsung Members since members would post news on their phone's security patch or by simply heading on your SETTINGS - SOFTWARE UPDATE - DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL. Have a good one.
