When I connect my Samsung S25 Ultra to a 120Hz-capable capture card via an HDMI cable, the phone's refresh rate gets stuck at 60Hz as soon as the external display is detected. Why is this happening, and what is the solution?

Check HDMI Cable if it's HDMI 2.2/2.1 or not.

HDMI 2.0 is locked at 4K@60Hz.

Have you practically checked on the S25 Ultra when screen mirroring through HDMI 2.1 or 2.2? Regardless of the output resolution (even if it is 1080p), what is the FPS of the phone's own screen? Does it give 120 FPS? Does the S25 Ultra's screen maintain 120Hz, or does it get stuck at 60Hz? Please tell me🙏

Facing same problem, both in screen mirroring and samsung dex mode and in both wired and wireless mode. As soon as I share screen to external display, it stucks to 60hz. I can confirm it is not a OneUI problem, it is android problem. I also tested wired external display output via HDMI in Xiaomi 15 and OnePlus 12, both showing same problem in Android 16. I downgraded and flashed Xiaomi 15 to android 15, the 60hz problem solved instantly and gives 120hz on both mobile screen as well as in my capture card.
