I just want to know what's better for your phone and battery, leaving apps open or closing them.

I've been closing apps since I started using a smartphone back in the iPhone 3 days.

Still closing them today even on my S25 Ultra it's kinda muscle memory now 😀 app will just Notify you anyways.

I came across a few articles on YouTube and it was about 50/50, with some saying don't close apps and some saying the opposite. On my S23 I've always closed my apps but i was just curious whether it was better for your phone.

The phone is basically a Computer so the Operating System should store the App into RAM while it's use then so it can be opened quickly again later.

If you watch a phone speed test when it does opening the 1st lap then Lap 2 is re opening all the apps again, it shows how well the phone handles placing an App into RAM.

No idea if battery is any better or worse though.

I think the battery usage thing has to do with apps working un the background. You can choose which specific apps are always allowed to do so. 1770014233762.jpg1770014274721.jpg

In my total ignorance as to how RAM and CPU work. I would have thought that having lots of RAM using open and background app memory, and then opening a new app which requires using RAM the app would have to swap current apps out to make space for the new app. Bit inefficient? Vendors' marketing and pricing places emphasis on more RAM the better. Users also suggest reducing RAM for devices suffering heat problems, suggesting that active processes use up power and battery. Therefore frequent use apps should be in RAM for speed and convenience but little used apps should be closed. are my suggestions correct? Please don't be brutal when correcting my ignorance

I'm going to leave everything open, see how it goes. I've always closed everything because I didn't want a thousand pages left open.
