I thought members might want to read a quick summary on types of consumer problems which might be covered by Consumer Affairs departments, the retailer, or other consumer bodies. This is an AI summary so definitely not to be relied on;
"You can file consumer protection complaints for issues like misleading advertising, unfair contract terms, faulty products not meeting guarantees (repair/replace/refund), services not delivered, or general unfair business practices, including issues with pricing, sales tactics (door-to-door), and unconscionable conduct, with bodies like the ACCC (Australia) or FTC (US). Common areas involve retail, automotive, property, finance, and digital services, seeking remedies like refunds, replacements, or compensation for losses. "

      In Australia your first port of call is your state Office of Fair Trading if retail issues. ACCC looks at nationwide breaches such as labelling and national advertising or referrals from state OFT.

      I was careful not to make statements like this. Who you go to depends upon the type of claim. This includes the TIO who insist you try direct resolution before going to them, bodies like the Small Claims Division of the Local Court in NSW (if in NSW), civil action under law relating to torts and contractual action if dispute resolution is defined the original contract. If you want you can see if you can resolve a problem with the representation from your relevant local State or Federal MP.
